Niigata 新潟
For our last day of 2014 we wanted to visit somewhere we had never seen before, so we took a train to Niigata city to view the Japan Sea.
Istanbul
Trying to move on from Japan I decided to fly to Istanbul to visit my father who gave me an amazing tour around the city
Alfama, Mouraria – Lisbon
Lisbon has a documented old history from Celtic times and later as a trading post during Phoenician, Greek and Carthaginians times. At this time most of the population lived around the area that is now the São Jorge castle.
Leiria
In the center of Portugal lays Leiria. With Celtic prehistory Leiria has always been known as a fertile farming and cultivating area.
Kakunodate 角館
Kakunodate is a small town in Akita prefecture established in the sixteen hundreds as a castle town. Although there is no longer a castle on the top of the hill, the town is still visited for its samurai district.
Reverse culture shock
This time, I’m writing about something less exciting but equally important: coming and adjusting back.
Kyoto 京都
One last day in Kyoto, and it was time for some lesser known beautiful places in Kyoto. The Ginkaku ji and the Nanzen ji are two beautiful examples of pavilions converted into Zen temples. Also, hidding behind the Nanzen ji we found an impressive Meiji period aqueduct. Something I never expected to find in Kyoto.
Kyoto 京都
In my second time visiting Kyoto from Sendai we were booked a visit of the Imperial and Sento Palaces by a friend. Beautiful constructions with charming decoration details.
Hiroshima 広島
On our last day in Hiroshima, we decided to visit the Shukkeien Garden a lovely small garden planned and built as a traditional Japanese garden in 1620.
Miyajima 宮島
Miyajima or Itsukushima island is a very charming place that makes one of the three views of Japan. In this tourist hot spot, you can experience some adventurous as well as contemplating moments.
